The service in depth
When the operator answers that “there is no pipeline in front of the property,” the water availability becomes conditional on a line extension: bringing the public pipeline from the feasible connection point to your project. It is public infrastructure built with private funds, which is why AyA's technical standards govern it from start to finish.
A successful extension chains together disciplines that rarely come from a single provider: hydraulic design with modeling, CFIA-stamped plans, national road-cut permits from MOPT and CONAVI, easements in favor of AyA when the pipe crosses third-party land, construction with certified materials, pressure and disinfection testing, and the final inspection by which AyA formally receives the work. If one link fails, the work is not received and the water never flows.
RAM delivers this service turnkey and under its own professional liability: design, permitting, construction, and handover are carried by one engineering team registered with the CFIA (CC-10052). The documented result: more than ten kilometers of potable water pipeline designed, built, and received by AyA across Puntarenas, Guanacaste, Alajuela, and San José.
On site, the difference lies in the details the standard demands and the inspector checks: SDR26 or SDR17 PVC according to working pressures, regulation trench depths and sand bedding, thrust blocks, valves and hydrants per design, sectional pressure testing, and line disinfection before interconnection. On national roads, the MOPT/CONAVI cut-and-reinstatement protocol is added. Everything is documented — logbook, photos, acceptance records — because that traceability is what sustains formal reception.
The process also anticipates the risks that typically kill these projects: easements negotiated too late, utility interferences in the road, undersized diameters AyA rejects in review, or budgets that ignored asphalt reinstatement. Our costed preliminary design puts every one of those factors on the table before you commit a colón to construction.

Do you handle the road-cut permits?
Yes. We have processed and executed national road cuts before MOPT and CONAVI in Quepos, Esparza and Guanacaste, under RAM's technical responsibility.
How do I know AyA will accept the work?
Our track record: works received without observations, documented with reception records. We design from day one with the reception requirements in mind.
How much does a line extension cost?
It depends on length, diameter, road type, and required easements. Real references: our documented works range from minor 25-90 m lines to 2,400 m, with CFIA valuations from ₡14.3 M (Corintos, 480 m) to ₡85.8 M (Big Door Prize, 2,242 m). A costed preliminary design is the first stage of the service.
Who ends up owning the pipeline?
The work is handed over to AyA (or the operator), which formally receives it into its system. That is why everything is designed and built to their standard: it is public infrastructure financed by the developer.
Can you take over a line someone else left unfinished?
Yes. We assess what was built, verify what can be salvaged under AyA standards, and complete design, permits, and construction through to reception.
